Music Lessons

I teach violin, viola, cello, piano, and chamber music lessons throughout Suffolk County and online to students of all ages and abilities. I am also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Hofstra University, teaching violin lessons, viola lessons, and piano/string chamber music. In line with my Suzuki, Feldenkrais, and performance training, I view all of my students as individuals with untapped talent, using music as the catalyst for learning the skills necessary to succeed in life and fulfill their goals. Regardless of age and ability, I break down music into achievable steps so that each student can succeed and grow as efficiently and enjoyably as possible. Young beginners can expect a variety of music-related “games” and activities that foster the growth of their attention span, sense of rhythm, ear training, and physical/technical development. Intermediate-level musicians are given a more structured scale and sight-reading regimen while developing technique and musicianship through solo repertoire, often in preparation for NYSSMA solo festival. More advanced players should expect a variety of scales, etudes/studies, sight-reading, and solo pieces, also often in preparation for NYSSMA solo festival or college auditions. All students are featured in a studio recital in the Spring for practice performing in front of audiences, listening and supporting others as audience members, and developing a greater sense of community with their fellow musicians. Regardless of level, my students develop a sense of self-awareness and self-reflection so that they may effectively develop the musical and technical skills necessary for learning their instrument without injury.
